Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PatternPix is an iPhone and iPad app for creating seamless patterns and designs, using motifs, fills, effects, rotation and sizing tools, previewing them in augmented reality (AR), and exporting them (for example as image files and SVG). It is provided by Rubellite Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13504030), with its registered office at 80 Mary Slessor Street, Coventry, CV3 3BX ("PatternPix", "we", "us" or "our").

For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Rubellite Ltd is the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy. By using the app you acknowledge the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

Account information: your name, email address and other details, if you create an account or contact us.
Your designs: patterns, motifs, colours, effects and settings you create or save in the app. You own the designs you create.
Images you choose to use: photos you select or take, for example to preview a pattern on a room or piece of furniture.
Support requests: information you send when you contact us for help.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Usage data: which features you use (for example exports or AR preview) and general interaction with the app.
Device information: device model, iOS version, app version and language settings.
Diagnostic data: crash and performance information used to fix bugs and improve stability.

2.3 Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions, free trials, pattern packs and other in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive limited transaction information from Apple, such as whether you have an active subscription or have bought a pattern pack, the product purchased and the renewal date, so that we can give you access to paid features (for example SVG export without a watermark, and full AR preview).

2.4 Information from service providers

If you turn on iCloud sync, your designs are stored and synced using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) under your Apple ID, and Apple processes that data under its own privacy policy. Any other analytics, crash-reporting or hosting providers we use process information on our behalf only for the purposes in this policy.

3. How and why we use information

Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on the following:

4. Camera, photos and AR preview

The AR preview uses your device's camera, and its motion and depth sensors, to show patterns on surfaces such as walls, floors and tables. The photo preview feature lets you choose a photo from your library or take a new one.

We ask for camera and photo access only when you use these features, and you can withdraw permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Camera images and surface information used for AR are processed on your device to display the preview. We do not upload or store your camera feed on our servers.
Photos you use for a preview are used only to create the preview and any image you choose to export or share. We do not use them for advertising.
Your exported images and SVG files are saved where you choose. What you do with them afterwards is up to you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We may share information with:

Apple: to process purchases and subscriptions and, if you turn it on, to provide iCloud sync.
Service providers: such as hosting, crash-reporting, analytics and support tools, who process information on our behalf under contract and only on our instructions.
Professional advisers: such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
Authorities: where required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
A future owner: if the business or its assets are sold or merged, we may transfer information to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this policy.

Your designs are private to you. PatternPix does not publish them, and the app does not include a marketplace or public sharing of your designs.

6. Storage and retention

Most of your designs are stored on your device (and in your iCloud account if you turn on sync). We keep other information only as long as we need it for the purposes above:

Account and support information: while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle queries.
Purchase and accounting records: up to six years, as required for company and tax records.
Diagnostic data: for a limited period, then deleted or anonymised.

Deleting the app removes the designs stored only on your device. To have other data deleted, contact us (see Section 12).

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Have inaccurate information corrected.
Ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances.
Ask us to restrict or object to certain uses of your information, including uses based on our legitimate interests.
Receive your information in a portable format, where the processing is based on contract or consent and carried out by automated means.
Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, including for marketing emails.

You can also manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings > your name > Subscriptions); we cannot cancel Apple subscriptions on your behalf.

To use any of your rights, email rubellite@write.me. We will normally reply within one month.

8. Children's privacy

PatternPix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit where we transmit data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach presents a risk to you, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) where the law requires.

10. International transfers

Some of our service providers, including Apple, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, we take steps to make sure your information is protected, for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or other safeguards permitted by UK law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know (for example by an in-app notice or email) before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest revision.
